Blood and metabolism tests at home

SCVC has launched a range of tests suitable for people to use at home following advances in technology for painless, reliable capillary sampling that no longer requires a finger prick lance (which can be unreliable).

In partnership with MedicalSpace, all tests are provided with a medical report from a faculty doctor at SCVC. We can also offer tracking of key health metrics, such as LDL Cholesterol, HbA1C and even your BP, reducing the need for medical appointments to explain or interpret results.

CarbR Test

Where a more tailored and accessible approach to body metabolism and weight issues may be needed for people of all ages, we offer the Carbohydrate resilience test (CarbR). This test focuses on glucose management, lipid profile and weight. Wearing a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) for 10-14 days, capillary sample HbA1c, and lipid panel. The patient uses our app to keep food and lifestyle diaries which provide data for analysis and reporting, including any major glucose spikes and /or pre diabetic tendencies. Our team of doctors, dieticians, nutritional therapists and life coaches are at hand to help you manage any metabolic abnormalities, where necessary.

LP(a) Test

LP(a) is a lipoprotein that has been linked to cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease and strokes. High levels in the blood are usually due to inheriting a gene mutation and are now considered to be an even more important risk factor than LDL Cholesterol. Research indicates that up to 20% of the global population might have elevated levels of LP(a), significantly increasing their risk of heart attacks and other severe cardiac events.

At SCVC we routinely measure LP(a) in any patient found to have coronary artery disease and anyone who has a family history of coronary heart disease. We also offer a register and mailshot of updates regarding LP(a) treatment options currently being tested in phase 3 clinical trials.
