Home testing

Join us in our ambition to help all people, with and without heart disease, learn more about key cardiovascular risk factors such as blood pressure, cholesterol, LP (a), weight and blood sugar, through our range of home tests supplied with a medical report.

Find lifestyle and food choices that offer the best chance of a long and healthy life with less dependence on seeing your GP.

With our technology, guidance and educational material, provided alongside the medical report on every test we offer, you can manage a great deal of prevention for yourself.

Blood test and metabolism chez-vous

Following advances in technology for painless, reliable capillary sampling which no longer requires a finger prick lance (which can be unreliable), SCVC has launched a range of tests suitable for people to use at home.

In partnership with MedicalSpace, all of the tests that are offered online are provided with a medical report from one of affiliated medical practices. We also  offer tracking of key health metrics, such as LDL Cholesterol, HbA1C and even your BP, reducing the need for medical appointments to explain or interpret results.

The CarbR Test

Our metabolic health assessment provides a deep dive into most of the known modifiable risk factors for  major heart conditions.  For younger people, where a more tailored and accessible approach may be needed, we also offer the Carbohydrate resilience test (CarbR). This test focusses on glucose management, weight and is suitable from 18 yrs. Wear a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) for 10-14 days, capillary sample HbA1c and use our app to keep food and lifestyle diaries. The report will include an analysis of any major glucose spikes and /or pre diabetic tendencies. Our team of doctors, dieticians, nutritional therapists and life coaches are at hand to help you manage metabolic abnormalities , where necessary.

For more information see our Metabolic Health articles and CarbR page on our home order website

Research indicates that up to 20% of the global population might have elevated levels of Lp(a), significantly increasing their risk of heart attacks and other severe cardiac events. Lp(a) consists of LDL cholesterol linked to a protein called apolipoprotein(a), which makes it more likely to cause arterial blockages and clots.

At SCVC we routinely measure LP (a) in any patient found to have coronary artery disease and anyone who has a family history of coronary heart disease. We also offer a register and mailshot of updates regarding LP (a) treatment options currently being tested in phase 3 clinical trials.
