Men have a lower life expectancy than women, and are also less likely to engage in health screening. This discrepancy has inspired SCVC to create a specialised men’s health program, targeting men who seldom visit their GP.

SCVC primarily focuses on cardiovascular health. However, issues such as high blood pressure, weight gain associated with poor metabolic health, sleep disorders, and erectile dysfunction often remain unnoticed and unreported for years. These issues gradually harm overall health.

Built for men who rarely see a GP

Men are notoriously reluctant to book a GP appointment — and prostate cancer and heart disease often develop silently for years before anything feels wrong. Our Men’s Health packages are designed to close that gap: bloods, PSA screening and measurements are all completed in a single, fast visit at SCVC, and, in the two more comprehensive packages, we arrange the further imaging your prostate or heart may need. Package 3’s cardiac CT (CTCA with FAI) can usually be arranged on the same day as your bloods, in one stop at SCVC. Package 2’s Prostogram MRI is carried out next door at the Nuffield, so we can’t guarantee same-day scanning — but we’ll always try to arrange it as close to your visit as possible, and same-day may well be possible if you give us enough notice when booking.

Every visit starts the same way, whichever package you choose: a same-day urine dipstick check. If this shows signs of a urinary tract infection, we stop there and refer you straight to your GP or urologist for treatment, because an active infection can artificially raise your PSA result, and we’d rather protect the accuracy of your test than press ahead with a misleading picture. If your urine is clear, we go straight into your chosen package.

Same-day scanning isn’t guaranteed, but we’ll aim to book it as close to your SCVC visit as possible — ask us about same-day availability when you book.

Full Prostate & Heart Assessment

From £2,450. The complete picture — both your prostate and your heart thoroughly checked, coordinated across your SCVC visit and a Prostogram MRI appointment next door at the Nuffield.
Everything in Package 2, plus:

A CTCA with FAI — a CT coronary angiogram with AI-enhanced Fat Attenuation Index analysis (Caristo FAI, FDA-approved), usually carried out on the same day as your bloods at SCVC, and reported by a consultant cardiologist for one of the most accurate available pictures of early coronary heart disease. FAI is an emerging technology — NICE is still evaluating it for routine NHS use, so we treat it as additional insight alongside your CT anatomy, not yet as established standard care.

Good to know before your visit

Taking finasteride or dutasteride? (Proscar, Propecia, Avodart or Combodart) If you’ve been taking one of these for 12 months or more, your true PSA level will be roughly double the figure shown — our team will factor this in when we interpret your result, but please do let us know when you book.

Even with a normal PSA and clear scan, there’s still a small chance of prostate cancer — so if you ever notice changes such as passing urine more often, urgency, a weak stream, blood in your urine, or incontinence, please get in touch regardless of when you’re next due a check.
