HeartScreen+ Platinum is our most comprehensive sequence of cardiac screening tests for people over the age of 40 yrs and an ideal combination for those who seek peace of mind about their risk of existing and future coronary artery disease as well as other forms of heart problems. The package includes an advanced 128 slice Computed Tomogram (MSCT) used to detect microscopic coronary calcification, which is probably one of the most sensitive and sophisticated non-contrast methods for detecting coronary heart disease available in the world today.

Please note that this Healthscreen does not include CT Coronary Angiography, which is available as an upgrade option (for an additional charge) generally only once the Healthscreen result is known.

Want to know more details?
All of our Heartscreens involve a patient questionnaire, nurse assessment, a blood test and 12 lead ECG.
All are reported by an experienced Consultant Cardiologist so we feel that our Healthscreen patients benefit from having an expert eye look over their data and individual 'situation' without the need for potentially costly consultation.
Our Heartscreen plus Consultant report (hence Heartscreen '+') will therefore help detect cardiovascular problems that may not necessarily be causing major symptoms .
What does it entail?
Heartscreen+ Platinum involves more tests that cannot always be scheduled the same day and the CT is done by another provider so you will need to attend both our Guildford test centre and a local hospital to complete this Heartscreen.
Once you have scheduled the appointments by either calling us, or booking direct (see below) you will be sent details on when and where they will take place.
On arrival at our test centre you will need to complete our Registration form and Patient Questionnaire (unless already done). You will be asked whether your wish to have any extra blood tests done such as a Prostate screen (PSA), Vit D level, Thyroid check, or HbA1c/ Blood Sugar testing for Diabetes (these would cost extra).
You will be shown into the ECG room and the Cardiac Nurse will take down your details and measure your Blood Pressure as well as take blood from a vein in your arm.
You will then be asked to remove any clothing over your chest and electrodes connected to your chest.
The ECG will be acquired over a few minutes and forwarded electronically to the reporting Consultant Cardiologist who will issue a report. You can ask to have the print out of the ECG and report in due course either by email or post.
You will then move into our Echocardiography room- either the same day or on a different day where you will have the detailed ultrasound examination by a trained echocardiographer.
You will then need to move to our Exercise test room (possibly on another day) for the final part involving a full 12 lead ECG during exercise. The test involves walking on our treadmill while connected to ECG and Blood Pressure equipment. Every 3 minutes the treadmill will be sped up or an incline introduced creating a gradual increase in Cardiac workload.
The test can detect important coronary narrowing that may for example mean you would then be referred on for more detailed tests (invasive coronary arteriography) to find out whether a coronary stent or bypass operation are recommended, which are sometimes indicated even in the absence of symptoms.
The final part of the assessment involved a CT scan. This will be arranged at a local CT scanner, where you will need to go for the test. It does not require an intravenous contrast injection or cannula and usually takes about 30 min to complete.
Once all the results are available they will be reviewed by the Consultant Cardiologist before issue of a report.
What can Platinum miss?
Although our healthscreens are non invasive tests, and Cardiologists also offer state of-the-art-non invasive CT Angiography (as well as gold standard invasive coronary arteriography) to investigate the coronary tree in more detail, the latter tests carry small but significant risks (including radiation, contrast and arterial damage) and thus are not tests we would routinely recommend on a healthscreening basis unless properly discussed and benefits versus risks explained.
Where patient's request Cardiac CT Angiography as the only screenining test we would advise a Consultation or review of the reasons first to make sure the additional dose of X-radiation can be justified.
Shown in the table below: Heartscreen+ Platinum is our top package and offers state of the art Calcium scoring can be used to detect coronary heart disease in many cases years before symptoms develop, allowing more effective prevention measures to be taken.
