E-Consultation is not suitable for all comers: it can only be offered for follow up consultations (those patients that have been previously assessed by the Cardiologist as a private patient), requires internet access on computer or mobile phone, a personal email address and further registration with our service provider (bookingbug.com). The patient must be able to read and type into the chat window- and ideally have some experience with using internet chat windows eg for utility service or banking enquiries.
It is offered predominantly out of hours - usually in early mornings ie outside normal office hours, however it is also useful during crises abroad.
For self funding patients or those issued with coupons, E-Consultation offers significant cost savings as well as the convenience of being able to schedule and reschedule the appointment upto 24 hours prior to the booking.
How does it work?
The patient either calls us to arrange with payment due via our usual invoicing system, or uses the 'book now' button below to schedule the E-Consultation requiring payment prior to the appointment.
E-Consultations can not be funded through insurance however free of charge coupons are available for some instances.
Once scheduled the patient recieves email notification which contains the location of the chat window they use to connect to the Consultant at the time of the appointment. Initially a security process establishes true identity of the patient before patient can pose questions and get replies direct from the Consultant.
At the end of the consultation the transcript is sent to the patient and stored on our electronic record system and sent to the GP (unless specified not) instead of a formal letter.
