Consultant in Metabolic Medicine and Lipidology
Dr Tim Wang is Consultant in Clinical Biochemistry in Frimley and Guildford, and Visiting Senior Fellow in Metabolic, Endocrine and Nutritional Medicine at the University of Surrey in Guildford. He studied Medicine at the University of Sheffield, UK and was a awarded a PhD following his work on cholesterol metabolism at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. After post-graduate training he was appointed as a Consultant to the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust in Guildford and Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
He is actively engaged in local and multi-centre research projects and enjoys teaching postgraduate students and trained doctors. He currently sits on the Steering Committee for the Hampshire FH cascade Screening Service, and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Acacdemic Health Science Network Lipid and Familial Hypercholesteorlaemia Steering Group. He has sat on the Steering Group for the National Audit of the Management of Familial Hypercholesterolaemia at the Clinical Effectiveness and Evaluation Unit at the Royal College of Physicians in London. He is the director of the Cardiovascular Risk Factor Supra-regional Assay Service in Guildford.
His clinical interests are in Metabolic Medicine in general, but he has particular interests in hyperlipidaemia (abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride), renal (kidney) stone disease and calcium metabolism.
