
Mr Neil Moat
Consultant Cardiac Surgeon
A Consultant Cardiac Surgeon with over twenty years experience in clinical cardiac surgery. He has been a consultant since 1993 and took up his current post as Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at The Royal Brompton Hospital in 1994.
He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute and was Clinical Director of Cardiac Surgery at the Royal Brompton Hospital from 2002 - 2007. He is an elected member of the Executive Committee of the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland and a member of the European Society of Cardiology and European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery working party in relation to transcatheter valve implantation. He has extensive experience of all aspects of adult cardiac surgical practice.
Specialist Areas
He has a specialist interest in the management of valvular heart disease. He has one of the largest mitral valve repair practices in the United Kingdom and receives national and international referrals in this area.
He also has considerable experience in the surgical management of atrial fibrillation in patients with valvular heart disease. He is the co-director of the Royal Brompton Hospital Transcatheter Valve Programme, which is one of the largest of its kind within the United Kingdom and one of only a handful of such programmes worldwide that has experience of all of the available devices and techniques in this area. He has published widely in international peer review journals in the fields of both coronary artery surgery and valvular heart disease.
